Hi, I’m Chantal – the maker behind Blue Riptide Studio.
I did some tie-dyeing in the late 90s, and I even sold a few shirts on eBay. It was short-lived, life happened, and eventually I put it all away.
In 2018 I picked up wire-wrapped copper jewelry and that became my creative world for the next five years until I closed that chapter in 2023.
By 2026 I knew I needed something creative in my life again. Something that got me away from a screen and back into using my hands. Something tactile, unpredictable, and a little messy.
And then tie-dye pulled me back in. Not gently…more like a riptide. One minute I was curious, the next I was elbow-deep in dye in my basement, completely consumed by it.
That’s how Blue Riptide Studio started.
I work out of a basement studio on Canada’s East Coast, using professional fiber-reactive dyes. The difference shows up in the color: richer, more vibrant, and built to last. Every piece is hand-dyed one at a time, and no two ever come out exactly the same.
In a world that produces everything faster and cheaper than ever before (especially now with AI), I believe human-made has become its own kind of luxury.
I plan to open an online shop in the near future. In the meantime, follow along on Instagram or Facebook.
